The reading should be completed by sometime in the early evening (between 7:00 and 8:00-8:30 pm). Some light refeshments (including coffee!) will be available in the morning, but bring munchies and drinks to share during the day. All are welcome for all or part of the day. The only requirement is that you be prepared to read aloud when your turn comes around the circle. We will break for about 10-15 minutes after every two books, and after Book VI we will break for lunch. Bring a few dollars to contribute to a Pizza order.
For more information contact Dr. Louis Schwartz, English Department, University of Richmond:
Programme: (am) John K. Hale (Otago), 'Milton's Languages and the Cambridge Context'; Estelle Sheehan (Queen's Belfast), 'Milton, Manso, and Ovid's Chiron'; (pm) Sharon Achinstein (Northwestern), 'Imperial Dialectic: Milton and Conquered People'; Dennis Kezar (Charlottesville), 'Samson Agonistes and the Art of Dying.'
The Library is situated conveniently close to both New Street Station and to large carparks. A map of central Birmingham is available on request. Please note the minor change from the usual venue; it's in the main part of the Library this time -- in by the main entrance, up to the top floor by the escalators, ask directions at the issue desk. The seminar is open to academic and related staff and to postgraduate students, so do please draw it to the attention of others who may be interested.
Note: if you would like contact information, please contact Kevin J.T. Creamer. Although I have no association with this particular event, I'd prefer not to broadcast someone else's address without prior consent.
